SCL Seminar by Marko Petrovic

SCL seminar of the Center for the Study of Complex Systems, will be held on Thursday, 6 July 2017 at 14:00 in the library reading room “Dr. Dragan Popović" of the Institute of Physics Belgrade. The talk entitled

"Electronic transport in graphene: Effects of magnetic focusing and vacancy disorder"

will be given by Dr. Marko Petrović (Department of Physics, University of Antwerp, Belgium).

Abstract of the talk:

In this talk we will briefly present the standard Landauer-Buttiker formalism used to describe electronic transport in multi-terminal mesoscopic devices. We will show two examples where this formalism, combined with a recently developed software package for quantum transport (KWANT), is applied to graphene. The first example is related to scanning gate microscopy and recent experiments on magnetic focusing [1], and the second one is about transport in disordered graphene Hall bars [2]. In the case of magnetic focusing, we will show the relationship between the measured conductance maps and the electron trajectories, and in the case of vacancy disorder, we will describe the behavior of new, vacancy-induced states in the Landau spectrum.
