SCL's Antun Balaz visited Free University of Berlin and Potsdam University from 1 to 7 November 2009 in the framework of PI-BEC research project. This visit to the group of Dr. Axel Pelster was organized in conjunction with the visit of Prof. Vanderlei Bagnato from the University of Sao Paulo. Prof. Bagnato is vice-director of the Institute of Physics of the University of Sao Paulo (IFSC-USP), and head of large experimental group working on Bose-Einstein condensation.

The discussions during the visit were focused on the parametric resonance of collective modes of Bose-Einstein condensates with the interaction modulated by Feshbach resonances, as well as parametric stabilization of the condensate for negative values of the s-wave scattering length. The ongoing research on time-dependent short-time effective actions and Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov description of BEC phase transition was also discussed, as well as the forthcoming visit of Dr. Pelster's student Oliver Gabel to SCL.
