SCL at PDC Summer School 2009
SCL member Dusan Vudragovic participated in the intensive two-week PDC Summer School 2009 - Introduction to High-Performance Computing. The school was organized from 17 to 28 August 2009 by PDC of the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden. The major topics covered include Programming Environment at PDC, HPC Programming: Languages, Libraries and Tools, Modern Computer Architectures, Parallel Algorithms, Optimization of Serial and Parallel programs, and Grid Technologies. The lectures were given by international experts, with the overall duration of about 40 hours. The lectures were followed by the same number of hands-on computer lab sessions with homework assignments. The participants were strongly encouraged to bring and present their own computing problems/programs for discussion at the school, and to further work on them as hand-in projects using the newly acquired HPC knowledge. A visit to the PDC supercomputing installation was organized during the school.
