SCL at UOB Faculty of Chemistry
On 27 May 2010 SCL's Antun Balaz and Vladimr Slavnic were invited by Prof. Dr. Ivan Juranic and Branko Drakulic to visit Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Belgrade and give a guest lecture on parallel programming, as a part of the course on "Basics of Molecular Modelling and Chemical Informatics" at Faculty's Department of Organic Chemistry. In the first part of the lecture Antun Balaz introduced modern computing architectures, parallel programming paradigms and models, with the focus on Message Passing Interface (MPI) standard. To complement this, Vladimir Slavnic held a practical demonstration of MPI basics, illustrated on several examples of parallel codes, communication routines, compiling and executing methods in a cluster environment.
