Zlatko Papic gave a seminar talk on the "Fractional quantum Hall effect in bilayers and wide quantum wells at the filling factor 1/2" at Laboratoire de Physique des Solides, Universite Paris-Sud in Orsay, France. He presented the overview of his recent work (together with M. Milovanovic, M. Goerbig and N. Regnault) on the connection between multicomponent and non-Abelian quantum Hall states in different systems such as quantum Hall bilayers and wide quantum wells. In particular, it was discussed how to engineer non-Abelian states using tunneling in the experiments of Shayegan group at Princeton.
Results from exact diagonalizations were presented and interpreted in an analytical model.
