Seminar by Zorica Jaksic
Dr Zorica Jaksic held an IPB-wide seminar talk on "Structural characterization of granular material during the process of compactification". The main topic of the seminar was presenting results obtained from numerical simulations, with emphasis on experiments, of compaction two dimensional granular system. The objects of the simulations were more and less dissipative, both smooth and rough disks with various tapping intensities. Simulations showed that the temporal evolution of packing friction gives an excellent fit to Mittag-Leffler functions. Dr Jaksic also presented Voronie tesselation diagrams of packings formed in the simulations at different stages of compaction, after different number of taps, evolution of probability distribution as a function of the shape factor, and the time evolution of the packing fraction when the tapping intensity is changed.
