SCL head elected Director of IPB
The head of the Scientific Computing Laboratory, Prof. Aleksandar Belic, was elected director of the Institute of Physics Belgrade on 1. November 2010. The key part of his four year program for the IPB will be a concerted push towards increasing the breadth and level of the Institutes international cooperation, particularly within the European Research Area.
Currently the key identified impediment to this is organizational/administrative, leading to inadequate capacity for a substantial increase in the number of R&D and commercial spin-off projects that IPB researchers can take part in. As a result the IPB will set up a process of optimising its organization and of better utilizing its technical and administrative staff, including the setting up of a process of continued on the job training for new skills and competencies.
At the level of research, particular emphasys will be put on enhanced researcher mobility, recruitment of hiring of top young scientists, as well as the reintegration of experts from abroad with key competencies in priority areas designated by IPB's strategic plan, as well as the recently developed National strategy for research and development. The aim of these measures is to substantially increase both the quality and quantity of IPB scientific production, and in particular to increase visibility of that research effort both at the level of the global research community as well as the wider public in Serbia
