Practical applications of Blue Danube
The Blic newspaper carried a longer version of the interview that Prof. Aleksandar Bogojevic recently gave to journalist Lidija Tomic. The interview presents the High Performance Computing activities at the Scientific Computing Laboratory of the Institue of Physics Belgrade that have culminated in the creation of a robust hub for reintegration of experts from Serbia's scientific diaspora. These activities and the HPC infrastructure that they rely on have been financed both from National and European sources. In 2012 this will result in the opening of the new Blue Danub supercomputing facility. The article lists several applications that are planned to run on the new infrastructure that are of wider relevance to the general public, e.g. Blue Danube opens up the opportunity for practical application of climate modelling to Serbia's agriculture sector.
