SCL at ICTP Scientific Software Development School 2012
SCL's Antun Balaz, Vladimir Slavnic, Jaksa Vucicevic and Marko Mladenovic attended the "Advanced School on Scientific Software Development: concepts and tools" at International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), which lasted from 20 February to 2 March 2011 in Trieste, Italy. Same as the last year, Antun Balaz was one of the organizers and lecturers, while Vladimir Slavnic was one of the tutors. Jaksa Vucicevic and Marko Mladenovic were participants of the school.
Goals of the school were to provide an overview of concepts and tools in scientific software development and to help young scientists with their own computational problems. During the first week of the school lecturers and tutors covered several topics such as compiling, debugging, optimising, validating and verifying scientific codes. Also, participants were introduced to programming language Python. During the second week participants were expected to work on their own projects and some of them presented achieved results at the end of the school term.
