During the last two weeks of August, SCL’s Igor Franović visited Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) and the Research Institute of Intelligent Complex Systems at Fudan University in Shanghai. At NUAA, Dr. Franović delivered a series of lectures entitled “Dynamical Systems in Neuroscience: From Single Neurons to Neuronal Populations” as part of the university’s Summer Lecture Program. The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss possibilities for further strengthening scientific collaboration between researchers at SCL and NUAA. Toward the end of his stay, Dr. Franović joined colleagues from Fudan University and NUAA for discussions aimed at identifying promising directions for joint research. Particular emphasis was placed on emergent excitability and multiple-timescale dynamics in adaptive biological networks, opening new avenues for future collaboration between the three institutions. Igor returns with memorable impressions of the warm hospitality extended by Dr. Jinjie Zhu in Nanjing and Dr. Bo-wei Qin and Dr. Yanxue Fu in Shanghai, and looks forward to welcoming them to Serbia next year.
