SCL at Scientific POWER Meeting
SCL's Vladimir Slavnic participated in the Scientific POWER Meeting, held at Mazurian Lakes in Poland from 26 to 28 March 2009. This event was jointly organized by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modeling (ICM) of the University of Warsaw and IBM Company. The focus of the meeting was on PowerXCell8i architecture and its impact on scientific computing. Various usage scenarios of this new technology and associated changes in programming paradigms were presented in detail. The participants were able to have a closer look on porting techniques to Cell architecture for some existing scientific numerical simulations, as well as to discuss efficient implementing of different new algorithms and best practices for programming on the Cell platform. The lecturers also presented some future concepts and hardware features, expected to be introduced soon.
