Scientific Computing Laboratory of the Institute of Physics Belgrade, in collaboration with the IBM Serbia organized and hosted a visit of IBM's representative Petr Plodik from the Czech Republic. During the visit Mr. Plodik presented experiences of the Institute of Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic with major upgrade of their data center and solutions used in that specific case. In the second part of the meeting he gave a presentation on IBM's System X server solutions based on Intel x86 processor architecture. Special attention was given to iDataPlex systems with flexible design and high power and cooling efficiencies, and IBM eX5, new line of servers with high memory and compute capacity. The seminar and ensuing discussion presented comparisons of different server solutions.
